Perched on top of a high crag on Northumberland’s Holy Island, Lindisfarne Castle re-opens this year, following 18 months of essential repairs and conservation work, with a major new site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed, former Turner-prize nominated artist, Anya Gallaccio with the support of Locus+

The castle is re-opening without its collection inside, which has given Anya a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take over the empty castle and create an immersive experience inside.

This is your chance to explore the castle, like never before, as a combination of organically dyed blankets and geometric wooden sculptures, creating a landscape of colour throughout.

The colours take their inspiration from Gertrude Jekyll’s walled garden in the castle’s grounds, representing life returning to the castle once more.

This newly commissioned installation is delivered by Locus+ and the National Trust through Trust New Art, supported using public funding by Arts Council England and a donation from the Henry Moore Foundation.
