Hensley Henson, Dean of Durham during the First World War, kept detailed diaries which are being transcribed for the first time. Hear his experience of the War through readings from 1 July 1916 – 30 June 1917. This was also the time of the National Mission and a speaker will explore this significant wartime church initiative. Finishes in time to attend the Requiem Eucharist in the DLI Chapel to mark the centenary of the commencement of the Somme Offensive.

A free event with donations of £10 welcome on the day. Contact events@durhamcathedral.co.uk or call 0191 386 4266 to reserve a place.
