Standard Entrance Fee
This Easter, some of Newcastle Castle’s very own knights will be giving demonstrations of their valorous skills. Climb up the stairs and be greeted by these mighty warriors, who would have defended the Keep from attackers during medieval times. Clad in armour, they will be ready to talk and demonstrate to interested passers-by. Learn the key sword strokes and stances from these battle-hardened experts, and find out about the functionality of interesting armour pieces. You can even try them on and take photographs – although this is not a practice that would be observed during medieval times!
These guided demonstrations are suitable for everybody. Our costumed volunteers adapt the demonstrations depending on the size of a group and the age range.
This workshop is included in the standard entrance fee to Newcastle Castle and incurs no additional cost. Booking is not required. These workshops take place in the Castle Keep and are thus unfortunately inaccessible to wheelchair users.
