John Wrightson is a prolific songwriter from the East Durham area. His songs are of real life experiences having worked as an electrician down the mines for 21 years, 12 of these at the coalface.

Bert Draycott is a unique North Eastern entertainer who has worked since the 1970s. His repertoire includes songs and stories from the mining tradition, having first-hand experience as a miner himself
