Special Service: The Liturgy of Good Friday (The Three Hours)

14 April 2017

12.00noon

At the centre of Good Friday is the Cross. In this service its meaning is brought home to us in three ways: first by hearing the account of the Passion in St John’s Gospel; then by praying for all those for whom Christ died; then by reflecting on and reverencing a visible cross.
Helped by words, music, silence and an appropriate simplicity we enter the mystery of the finished work of Christ and face the challenge of our Lord today, “crucified in weakness but alive by the power of God”  (2 Corinthians 13: 4). At the end of the service, those who wish to receive the Holy Communion consecrated at the Sung Eucharist on Maundy Thursday are invited to proceed to the Quire.
