This incredible musical story is “moving and compelling” (Arts Beat), telling the tale of a family destroyed by poverty and crime, but resurrected by exile to the new colony in Australia. With a fresh script and musical arrangement, this famous show from the 70s re-emerges within a modern context of mass migration.
This is an incredible opportunity to see some of the greatest folk musicians all on one stage with musical arrangement from Paul Sartin of Bellowhead and Faustus, two time BBC Folk Award winners The Young’uns, Nancy Kerr, Bellow Heads Rachael McShane, Faustus’ Benji Kirkpatrick and Saul Rose, and Greg Russell – “ten voices uniting in magnificently lusty, rousing chorus” (The Herald 4*).
“a transport of delight” (The Guardian 5*) – The Transports is not only a great music experience and a sharp reminder of folk music’s power – it is also a vital portrayal of a defining dilemma of today – mass migration.
