For over fifty years, Johnny Handle, singer, songwriter, musician and a Geordie legend, has been a major part of the British folk music scene.

Along with folksinger Louis Killen and enthused by the revival of folk music, they started the Folksong & Ballad Club in Newcastle in 1958. In 1965, he formed the celebrated Newcastle folk group High Level Ranters. Around this time the folk scene really took off and the Ranters were in high demand throughout the country.

Over the years, Johnny’s passion for folk music has led him to do lots of research work for radio and television, as well as the Northumbrian Anthology series of CDs, and the FARNE website.

The great man is still here, still writing, performing, inspiring and making people laugh.

Expect a treasure trove of songs, tunes and stories all delivered with a genuine and real enthusiasm.
