As part of their Great North Museum: Hancock Fellowship, Dr Pau Farràs and Dr Fabio Cucinotta have created a short film that explains how light could be used as a renewable energy source.
Dr Pau Farràs and Dr Fabio Cucinotta are from the School of Chemistry at Newcastle University and during their time as GNM Fellows they wanted to tell people about solar power and how the energy from sunlight could be used to generate clean fuels.
Most of the power that we use today is produced by burning fossil fuels. Supplies of these fuels are limited and burning them releases harmful gases into the air. This means that we will have to find other ways to generate power in the future.
