Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles) is beautiful, smart and quite abrasive to most of her fellow teens, meaning that she doesn’t attract many boys. Unfortunately for her younger sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), house rules say that she can’t date until Kat has a boyfriend, so strings are pulled to set the dour damsel up for a romance. Soon Kat crosses paths with handsome new arrival Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger). Will Kat let her guard down enough to fall for the effortlessly charming Patrick?

As well as seeing this iconic film in a beautifully unique setting, there’s also the chance to take in a jaw-dropping panoromic view of Newcastle and beyond before the film starts.

Open 7-days per week from 10am until 5pm, you can visit the family-friendly historic attraction, located in Newcastle city centre, to reveal the story of how Newcastle began, the reason the City got its name and to walk in the steps of the people who lived and died in the shadow of Newcastle Castle. Steeped in history this imposing Norman fortress, is a rugged reminder of Northern England’s turbulent history.

Newcastle Castle offers two bespoke screens across both the Black Gate and Castle Keep, and has made a name for itself screening everything from classic horror, cult comedies, indie gems, award-winning cinematic masterpieces and iconic film favourites.

After a year of regular sell-outs, there’s another carefully curated programme of perfect ways to spend your evenings.

Please note:

This film screening takes place in the Great Hall of The Keep , which is inaccessible to wheelchair users. Doors will open at approximately 5:30pm, with the film starting at 6.30pm.

All films are age certified by the BBFC, and we will check identification upon entry.

Reasonably priced refreshments will be available for all your sweets and drink needs. We aren’t a licensed venue, so for this event there will be no sale of alcohol.

As we’re nice people, we don’t mind our attendees bringing in their own refreshments or drinks, but please consider that anything you spend with us help us to ‘Keep the Castle going’. If you do bring your own refreshments, we simply ask that you are respectful of the venue and other customers and tidy up anything you’ve brought before leaving.

We also ask that upon leaving, you’re respectful of those around us, we are at the heart of the city in many ways, and we’re very appreciative of the fact people leave in a quiet and respectful manner.

We do reserve the right to remove anyone not adhering to the above or being respectful of the venue and event.
