Join one of our highly knowledgeable volunteer guides on a tour around the Castle Garth: The term Castle Garth appeared in the 17th century and described the former bailey of the castle, and a strip of ground around the curtain walls.
The tour starts from the Black Gate, goes across the Castle Garth and ends at the Keep. This is an opportune chance to learn about the parts of the Castle that didn’t withstand the test of time, and only survive through memories and pictures. You will be shown images and photographs of the Castle Garth from Newcastle Castle’s extensive archive, aiding your visual experience.
These tours last 30-45 minutes and are included in the standard entry to Newcastle Castle. They incur no additional fee. Booking is not required, however spaces on the tour are subject to availability depending on how many people turn up.
Tours take place at 10am, midday and 2pm.
