Oscar nominated for Best Foreign Language Film of 2016, this feature debut from the Turkish-French director/writer gained both high regard and controversy.

Five spirited sisters live with their uncle and grandmother in a remote Turkish village, bound by strict traditions while longing for the bright lights of cosmopolitan Istanbul.

Challenging the constraints of their culture and upbringing, they are soon pushing the boundaries and taking more and more risks – with the threat of the dire consequences hovering over their heads.

Though this film exposes some tricky confrontations between tradition and honour versus modern western influences, above all what is celebrated is the untameable joy of youth and the desire to follow your own dreams.
