Director Farhadi’s second Oscar-winner is a quiet domestic drama which evolves into a strange mystery. An actor husband and wife find their life disrupted when the apartment they’ve just moved is discovered to have a dubious recent past through its previous tenant. An event occurs which disrupts the couple’s relationship and shifts the audience’s sympathies unexpectedly. Thought-provoking and culturally insightful, this is one of Farhadi’s most intriguing films.
