The organisers of the region’s leading festival for emerging music, Evolution Emerging, has confirmed the full line-up for its one day May event which will see over 40 musical artists descend on the Ouseburn Valley.
In what has been billed as the event’s biggest and best to date, event organisers Generator have confirmed that the cream of the region’s and the UK’s emerging crop of talent will join a headlining list of North East All Stars which already includes 21st-century soul sensation Lulu James, Coquin Migale and Eat Fast.
Along with the likes of Cape Cub, Bryde and the hotly tipped, Keiandra – Radio 1’s psych pop favourites The Old Pink House, the Bon Iver inspired singer-songwriter Mat Hunsley, progressive rockers Mongeese and alt-pop outfit Shamu, will join the headliners on a May 28th bill that promises to deliver a special day of emerging music in Newcastle.
The Evolution Emerging line-up will also see a performance from Teesside shoegazers Figmennt and Newcastle three piece instrumental noise-rock band Apologies as well as an array of new artists, including the London-based British-Grenadian rapper, Sagaboi and the four piece indie pop band, Llovers.
Speaking ahead of the event, Lulu James, who will headline the Cluny stage, said: “I’m so happy to be coming back and playing on home turf again!
“I’m starting this year’s run of shows at Evolution emerging after two years on the road with the amazing electronic music duo, Gorgon City. I had an amazing experience with the Gorgon City crew playing world-renowned stages and I’ve developed and grown as an artist and a performer.
“I’m delighted to bring you my new project. The album that everyone has been waiting for. Come along and check it out, I’ll be sharing the stage with amazing new talent from the North East, it’s a hot ticket!”
In reaction to today’s full line-up announcement, Bob Allan, Generator’s Talent Development Manager, adds: “We’re really proud of this year’s line-up and feel it’s definitely our best yet. Not only do we have Evolution Emerging acts from previous years returning as our established headliners but there’s a torrent of new talent coming through too.
“I’m really excited to see new acts like Blesh, Keiandra, The Old Pink House, Sagaboi and Llovers and with a few new venues and a couple of surprises up our sleeves, festival goers should snap up their tickets soon to avoid disappointment. This is the ideal opportunity for people in the North East to discover their new favourite artist and to support future success stories from the region.”
