In this talk local astronomer and science educator Andy Gray will explore how physics and chemistry created biology.
The atoms that make up the human body are traceable back to the stars. Andy will start with the big bang and will look to see how the atoms in us are made in the universe. You will gain an understanding of what we mean by life and then through looking at how given the conditions on Earth, the diversity of life formed here, what are the possibility for other sorts of life is likely elsewhere in the universe and will we ever hear from them.
After Andy’s talk we will do some stargazing (weather permitting). Wrap up warm and bring a red light torch (if you have one). This event is part of the North Pennines Stargazing Festival running from 20 October to 4 November 2018 – www.NorthPenninesStarFest.org.uk
