Meet Cohors Quinta Gallorum, the auxiliary unit that garrisoned to the Fort in the third century.

As the summer season here at Arbeia draws to a close members come and meet Cohors Quinta Gallorum, the auxiliary unit that garrisoned to the Fort in the third century.

They’ll have some of their weapons and armour on display and will talk to visitors about what life would have been like when they lived here hundreds of years ago.

Quinta are part of the Arbeia Society and research, reconstruct and display all aspects of military and civilian life in early third century Britain.
