There have been numerous ghostly stories told about Newcastle Castle Keep, which range from the sounds of ghostly footsteps on narrow corridors which appear to be empty once investigated, to unexplained mists which several visitors have captured on their cameras.

During a previous occasion when the Spiritus Paranormal team investigated Castle Keep, they found a number of different types of communication to be successful. During a table tipping session in the Great Hall, the table was moving on its own from one side of the room to the other. While conducting an EVP session in the Mezzanine Chamber, the voice of a male was captured twice giving direct responses to questions. Intelligent EMF responses were captured in the Well Room, linked to the Great Hall, using a Mel Meter, reaching a spike of 7.2.
