The event, which runs from October 13-16, will see performers from across the globe descent on South Shields for a number of public gala shows along with taking part in a professional magicians convention.
And the line-up has now been boosted even further, with the news that Spanish magician, Dani DaOrtiz will now be taking part in the gala at The Customs House on Friday 14 October as well as presenting a masterclass for the convention attendees the following day.
Dani, originally from Estopona on the Costa Del Sol, first became interested in magic at the age of four, after being given a box of tricks by his father.
At 12 he travelled to Seville to visit The Magic Circle where he came face to face with Mario Lopez, otherwise known as Mario the Magician, who became his mentor.
He also became a student of magician Juan Tamariz, who has played to audiences across the globe, and helped Dani hone his card magic skills.
The performer will be joining an impressive roll call of magicians who will be showcasing their talents throughout the weekend.
They include Gregory Wilson, known as “The Honest Conman” and is such an expert in deception and trickery, he has given lectures to the FBI and Homeland security and former Britain’s Got Talent star, Alan Hudson, who was also seen on ITV’s Next Great Magician and on Penn and Teller: Fool Us.
A Family Magic Show is also being held at The Customs House on Thursday night, where people of all ages can enjoy a bill which includes international illusionist, Amethyst, North East magician Graeme Shaw and magician and comedian, Jez Bond.
The full line-up of magicians can be seen at www.southtyneside.gov.uk/magicfestival with tickets for all the shows available from The Customs House at www.customshouse.co.uk
Councillor Joan Atkinson, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, with responsibility for Culture, Leisure and the Visitor Economy, said she was delighted to see the latest addition to the bill.
“This year’s magic festival has already attracted performers from across Europe and the USA,” she said.
“So it’s fantastic that we’re able to strengthen the line-up still further with the addition of Dani, who is very well respected in the magic community across the world.
“The festival offers some amazing opportunities to see magicians at the top of their game so we are really looking forward to welcoming them to South Tyneside.”
Dani is replacing magician Jeffrey Wang who is no longer able to attend the festival.
